The Roller Weblogger is a Java-based weblogger and the one by which I had experienced so called weblogging for a first time. Starting with a simple customizing I became interested in this tool. For utilize it with Japanese, I felt I need to get more information and give more contribution. My activitiy on The Roller Weblogger therefore started.
This is an activity I hope to continue , so the topic will be stacked as the newer one to come to the upper part. Please read from buttom to up for the whole story.

not sure if it would really work or give proper expression as Japanese. Yes,

Of course I followed the Installation
Guide ...but I want to tell one thing very important. In setting of roller.xml
file, look at two descripsions on database connection URI. In my case,

I'm showing each of them by a long screenshot, not by text. Because I'm afraid the text might be word-wrapped or line-wrapped with inserted blanks or line separators by the browser. The similar insertion might occur by a text editor you use and it might cause a trouble. I want to cry out in a large voice
WRITE IT STRAIGHT THROUGH A SINGLE LINE(AND MAKE SURE OF IT)
without any indents, any line separators, to avoid troubles in encoding.
Now I could start Roller and post some entries in Japanese. Cool!

The Roller developers also asked me if I am interested in translating the property file for Roller Interface. Oh, Yes I am! As they sent to me an English version ApplicationResoureces.properties, I copied it as a name ApplicationResoureces_ja_JP.properties and start editing. For the internationalization you have to convert the located file into Unicode. I have a very good tool for it...NetBeans. Putting two property files at a same directory, open any of them in NetBeans.The editor looks like below.
The column colored blue is for the keys and you can see values of both local at the same time. Note that you can open the Unicode file, edit and update it! This helped my work very well.

And for my Japanese translation, they gave me an account for the RollerWIki, the documents site of Roller.This means, I don't have to send someone my Japanese documents saved in my local machine. Just log in, make a new page, edit it, and send it directly to the Wiki server! It's the wisest way to contribute documents! I can make documents little by little, whenever I can take time for it. In this way I have made up UserGuide_JP, QuickStartGuide_JP and InstallationGuide_JP. I'm going to make more. It's fun, because while translation I can understand the content much better than only reading English.

Meanwhile, we the Japanese webloggers of NetBeans.JP had been frustrated for a long time by one inconvenience: Comments were exposed in the form of Unicode, not of readable Japanese, in our Roller. Umm, the virtue of this phenomenon was a good education to use English comments even between Japanese Bloggers...but I made up my mind to query about this directly to the Roller developers. At the same time, I would offer them my Japanese version of the User Guide.
I subscribed to the Roller-User Mailing list and posted my query and offer. The response was great! They show me how to enable Japanese comments ( and also added a notice about it in the Roller wiki site with title "Customizing Your Website"->"Preparing for internationalized sites (non-ASCII characters)") . At the night that it really worked our weblog turned into the commenting party with hundreds ( overestimated ) of Japanese comments coming and going between the bloggers.

Soon After starting my weblog it got attacked by referer spam. How do I get rid of them?...the easiest way, though not the best, is to hide the referrer lanking completely. I visited the User's Guide of Roller for this setting. The way I found was to edit "Weblog" page's template.
The template seems to be written with HTML syntax and "Roller macros" with # character at the top of each. Find the macro "#showReferes" and delete it, that's all. Now that no referer is shown in public, there is no damned stupid lousy referers I in everyday list I can see in private. For kind and instructive referes in recent days, I personaly greet to them.
This User Guide is a very useful, but(and?) very long document. It's tough for me to understand all the content only by reading with eyes. It means, I wrote a whole translated version in Japanese. I felt like to show this JP version to other Japanese users.

One day I happendly found "NetBeans.JP Weblog" page, that was the beginning of my activity both in NetBeans.JP and The Roller Weblogger. From then I had been using NetBeans as my very best favorite loving IDE and feeling inclined to contribute to it in some way but unable to make my mind to get any action. Attending to the Weblog was what I thought an easier way to get contact with NetBeans.JP staff. In fact it was very easy to get a new account, only to send my username, real name and e-mail address, not phone-number nor zip-code nor credit card number nor blood type nor favorite food, was required.
This is the top page of NetBeans.JP Weblog. The version of the Roller Weblogger is 0.9.8. It has a nicely translated Japanese Interface and available to post articles written in Japanese.
You see so many Noniko's entry? It's not the fact only for mine. Yes, at present it has only SIX active bloggers, So each entry will remain for a few days in the recent entries list. That means...
Yes, you see "The Hot Weblog" above. I am the Queen of the NBJP Weblog, Ho-ho-ho!...People of the world, why not get your account for it? Your weblog will soon get to the top in lanking. POSTING ENTRIES in English is also available, though you might be a little bit confused by Japanese Menus....
